Growing a Business: One Contact At A Time – Episode 4 – Creating Your Own Luck – Part 2
How persistent are you with your follow-up? Are you willing to call somebody until they answer the phone? In this episode, Caleb Taylor walks through the process of follow-up and how it relates to networking with Business coach Clay Clark (former US Small Business Administration Entrepreneur of the Year). Clay Clark teaches the importance of follow-up when you apply this principle two sales and networking, you will find that you were going to get a hold of more people more regularly. Most people do not answer a phone number that calls them once. If they do not recognize your number, they’re never going to answer the phone. You must call them, text them, email them, and smoke signal them until you reach them. The entrepreneurs and business owners that can be the most persistent will always achieve the most fruit. The reason why is because their motivation is for the achievement of their goals, and whether or not you answer the phone we’ll not discourage them from continuing to call you. Rejection is process differently for business owners and entrepreneurs. You must recalibrate your perspective of what it means to get rejected. Rejection cannot phase you. When you’re networking, there are people that might not be able to create value for your business. Also, you might not be able to create value for their business. In the scenarios where you are able to determine that, you do not need to follow-up with them. However if there is an opportunity for them to create value for you, you must continue to follow up with them until you receive a answer for whether or not you guys are going to connect again. If you combine this with Clay Clark’s principle of always setting appointment, there will always be a specific next action that you must complete. Make sure that you take detailed notes during this business coach training, and sign up for tickets for one of the upcoming business conferences to learn more.
