15 Steps to Becoming a Successful and Proactive Person: Mr. Clark’s Opus – 3. Just Say No – Part 1

As we continue listening to the business coach team, Clay Clark and Sharita Bent discussed the steps in order to become successful and proactive focus on the ability to just say no. Think about all the things in your life that are currently distracting you from what you need to do. You cannot afford to spend time on things you have no control or ability to change. Perhaps social media is a time sucker in your life. Maybe you’re the type of person that comes home after a long day and likes to sit down in front of the couch. If you are this type of person then block time out in your schedule for it. Don’t waste your time listening to people you don’t want to be around or having conversations with them. Learning to say no truly is a skill that not many people are able to take advantage of. Now step number five is going to be defined the opportunities and requests for your time you are willing to say no to. Not everything is going to be a request from someone else for your time, but perhaps it will be an opportunity. You will have to gauge in your life what you can take out in order to take on new opportunities. And decide for yourself if these new opportunities that have presented themselves are going to be worth the substitutes and trade-offs you are having to make. This is not something that we can do for you, but something you will have to learn on your own to do for yourself. Perhaps there are two different opportunities that are both good but you only have enough time for one, you will have to decide which one to pick. A good way to think about the things you should add to your calendar is to think about the different responsibilities you will need to account for and think about them each day.
