Getting Promoted: Find Problems You Can Solve for Others Who Are Willing to Pay You – Episode 1 – How to Get Promoted – Part 1

Are you looking to get a promotion? Are you feeling like you’re stuck in your job? If you are looking for the specific steps on what to do in order to get promoted within your career, then make sure that you check out this episode with Caleb Taylor and business coach Clay Clark. Clay Clark is a successful business owner that has started nine different businesses and the former US Small Business Administration Entrepreneur of the Year. This particular episode breaks down the things that you must do in order to become recognized within an organization to get promoted. For some people they might feel like their hard work and efforts are not paying off because they’re not being recognized for it. What you must do is to be so good that they cannot ignore you. If you were going above and beyond, this will begin to develop a culture of over delivery for yourself. What you want is for people to recognize you as having a reputation of the excellence. But beware: Warren Buffett says that it takes 20 years to build a reputation, and only five minutes to ruin it. Building a reputation of excellence means not doing things one time, but consistently over delivering, and then maintaining that standard of success. The first thing that you must do to over deliver for your particular position is to find the problems that you can solve for others that are managing you. What are the things that they need on a regular basis that you can help solve. When you approach this problem, think about how the person or group is solving this problem currently. If you can effectively fix the problem more quickly or more affordably than how they currently are doing it, that would be a good thing to buy for them as a moment of over delivery. If you do this enough, then you will be recognized as somebody who consistently over delivers and creates more value than what they’re being paid for.
