Creating a Magical Organization Through Great Management – Episode 5 – Managing for Results – Part 1

In this series, Lee Cockerell, former Executive VP of Operations for Walt Disney World and Clay Clark, the former U.S. Small Business Administrator Entrepreneur of the year, business coach, father of 5 children, and owner of numerous chickens, will deep dive into how to create a magical organization through great management. Lee starts the video off by discussing how to create a magical organization and one of those steps is learning the truth.

Lee mentions that young people are getting more and more untrusting of leadership so you have to make sure your leaders in the business are on top of this. They have to be building those relationships, getting to know people better, be available when they need them and others that have been talked about in previous videos. When you are respected people will be more likely to give you their honest and valid options on how to grow. When you make decisions about the business that are not based on the truth, you will make a bad decision. Being available and showing people that you care is the best way to learn the truth. Your employees should have the expectations that you are checking all their work and if you are consistently checking they should always be doing their job. Also, they are more likely to come to you if there is a problem because you have built that relationship and there is trust there.

In this video, Lee Cockerell explains that the truth is everything and if you don’t know the truth then your employees probably don’t trust you enough to tell you the truth. You have to ask yourself, do the people I work with trust me and tell me the truth? If you are interested in more knowledge about effective management skills, then keep watching this video series!
