Do ever face certain obstacles in your life that you believe place you at a disadvantage? There are many different people that are born with disabilities and handicaps that causes them to struggle as they face certain obstacles in life. However, while something may appear as a disadvantage at first, these seemingly negative setbacks can often be birthed into opportunities that allow you to develop new skills. In this episode, business coach Clay Clark and public relations and branding guru Michael Levine join together to share how certain disadvantages can be turned around and be made into advantages. Walt Disney, the creator of Disneyland and notable creator of numerous cartoon films once said, “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me…You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” Clay Clark talks about how out of necessity, he developed certain skills that served him well for years to come. For example, he talks about how the world moved away from the yellow pages and google started to dominate the way people found out about new businesses. This caused Clay to learn how search engine optimization works and become one of the world leaders in search engine optimization. Additionally, when Clay first started his business “DJ Connection” he did not have a marketing budget at all. This caused him to apply himself toward  learning sales as a necessity of closing more deals. He had to pick up the phone, dial and smile, and never stop cold calling to book his first deals. All of these may come across as disadvantages at first, however they were turned into advantages because it forced Clay to learn skills that served him well for years to come.
