Give To Others First – Episode 1 – Part 1

Are you looking to move ahead in your job? Are you looking to build a career where people know you as having it reputation of excellence? In this episode, Caleb Taylor sits down with business coach Clay Clark (former US Small Business Administration Entrepreneur of the Year) to discuss how to build your wealth by learning to give to others first. The principle that we are discussing is over delivery. What does it mean to overdeliver? over delivery means to exceed somebody else’s expectation. When you exceed somebody’s expectation, that means they you are creating more value than what they expected of you. This can either be in the form of giving them a gift, finishing a job or task ahead of schedule, or providing them an opportunity that they did not expect. You must first identify what the other person values because for each person it will be different. This is powerful in the world of business. As an employee, if you consistently overdeliver, you will be seen as an asset to the company and always a positive return on investment. When you are seen as a positive return on investment, you will always have a job. As a business owner or entrepreneur, to overdeliver for a client means that you will retain them as a client longer reducing your expense on having to go out and solicit new clients. You must learn how to continuously overdeliver for the people around you, and your reputation will spread like wildfire. Over delivery is one of the most selfish thing that you can do for yourself because of the boomerang principle that speaks to the law of reciprocity. A lot of reciprocity states that if you do something for somebody else, they will psychologically want to do something back for you even though they were not expecting it.
