Do you feel stuff in your career? Regardless of your position, you must find a way to cut costs or increase revenue. When you do this, you will be viewed as a source of a return on investment for what you were being paid. Always overdeliver than what you were being paid. When you exceed expectations consistently this is called overdelivering. And this is not a one time event, you must consistently over deliver in order to build a reputation of excellence that becomes noticed. Comedian Steve Martin has a quote that says that you must be so good that they cannot ignore you. This holds true for employees as well. In the execution of your position, you must aggressively work towards making sure the managers and business owners noticed the hard work that you’re putting in, but you must do it so remarkably that they cannot ignore you. If you are bad at your job, you must work aggressively to improve and learn quickly. If you do not learn quickly, you will be seen as a bottom feeder that cannot advance in any capacity, and eventually fired. Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric company, made famous for cutting the bottom 10% of employees every single year in order to create room for higher-quality employees. As an employee, your chief aim must be to become one of the eight players of the organization. The a-players are the top 10% that will produce the best and most consistent results. These are employees that managers and business owners can count on regularly. You must avoid becoming a C-player at all costs, and work hard to continuously learn your job and improve at fast rate.
