The Process Of Becoming An Effective Leader – Episode 2 – Part 1
How do I become an effective leader? Its a skill that many of us want, but few of us actually possess. Being a leader is vital to building a successful business. How do I do that, you might ask? Follow along with NBA hall of fame basketball player and founder of Admiral Capital Group, David Robinson, and SBA entrepreneur of the year, Clay Clark, as they discuss the process to becoming a successful leader. A leader doesn’t just manage and control their team, a successful leader looks out for their team, supporting them, while putting them in a position where they can succeed. One of the key principles to leadership is listening. It’s important to make sure your team not only feels valued, but understands that their opinions matter. Although their ideas and opinions may not always be implemented, they are important, and conveying that to your team can help you improve your leadership skills. Responding to your team is the second principle of effective leadership. How you respond can make all of the difference in how your team feels and how it operates overall. You might think that it’s not important to learn the goals and dreams of the members of your team, but that’s actually part of the third principle for effective leadership. Supporting others can make all of the difference in how well your team performs. Part of that support is actually taking an interest in their lives. What drives them? What motivates them? When you learn this, you’re actually supporting their dreams and becoming an effective leader at the same time. Effective leaders not only know where someone may thrive, but they are able to put them into a position where they can succeed. So when you’re looking in the mirror, wondering how you can become a more effective leader, ask yourself, “Am I listening, responding, and supporting others to become an effective leader?”
