David is a committed husband and father of three children. As a legendary basketball player, David was a two-time Gold Medal Winner, a two-time NBA Champion, and a one-time MVP of the entire NBA. Since retiring from the game of basketball, David has gone on to become arguably more successful off the court than he was on the court. He was inducted into the NBA's Hall of Fame in 2009 and he founded and funded the $9 million Carver Academy in San Antonio. This non-profit private school was named after George Washington Carver to provide more opportunities for inner city children. It has been wildly successful and now nearly 20 additional brick and mortar charter schools based upon the same education and business model will be opening up throughout the San Antonio area. He also cofounded the Admiral Capital Group, whose portfolio is now worth over $250 million. The Admiral Capital Group's portfolio includes nine upscale hotels and office buildings across the U.S. as well as Centerplate, one of the largest hospitality companies in the world, and Academy Sports + Outdoors, a sports, outdoors, and lifestyle retailer with over 160 stores. David's commitment to his faith, family, and finances is the stuff of legend, yet he sincerely may be one of the most humble men you'll ever meet. Yes, David continues to be over seven feet tall.
